Paredes appointed to Student Affairs post

January 14, 2003

Ruby Paredes has been named assistant vice chancellor for Student Affairs, responsible for serving as liaison to schools, colleges and administrative units to promote diversity goals expressed in Plan 2008.

In addition, she will work as campus coordinator for multicultural/disadvantaged student issues and liaison to UW System for the recruitment and retention of multicultural/disadvantaged students. Working in conjunction with Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Paul Barrows, and other student life directors, her responsibilities will include program planning and development, and aligning the Student Affairs vision with the campus strategic plan.

She will also continue as Barrows’ chief of staff and executive assistant.

Paredes succeeds Akbar Ally, who retired in January 2002 after more than 25 years of service to UW–Madison.
