Out and About Month offers wide menu of events

April 4, 2006

A plethora of special events will help the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Campus Center celebrate Out and About Month this April.

Among the activities is a four-part film series, “Transgeneration,” opening Wednesday, April 5. The segments trace four transgender students as they negotiate friendships, academic, family and self-identity issues. This work was a Sundance Film Festival entrant in the documentary category. The films screen Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. in 1641 George Mosse Humanities Building. The films are free and all are welcome.

The month continues with a lecture by Dan Savage, columnist for The Onion. Savage will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, at the Wisconsin Union Theater. Musician Ellis will appear at 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, at the First Unitarian Meeting House on University Bay Drive.

A National Day of Silence in protest of harassment, discrimination and bullying will take place on Wednesday, April 26.

All events are free and open to the public. For more information, visit http://lgbtcc.studentorg.wisc.edu/.
