Open house marks merger of education units

November 19, 1998

An open house and instructional technology fair Friday, Nov. 20 will help mark the recent merger of the School of Education Computer Lab with the Instructional Materials Center.

The new Center for Instructional Materials and Computing (CIMC) was created through an administrative merger of the two units to provide one-stop shopping for instructional resources. CIMC is located on the third floor of the Teacher Education Building, where newly remodeled space houses the former Computer Lab.

“Our goal at CIMC is to provide the School of Education with a model facility that supports the integration of all instructional technologies in faculty and student projects,” says Jo Ann Carr, CIMC director.

A reception and open house will be held from 10 -10:30 a.m. in 301 Teacher Education. From 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. a fair will feature ways in which SOE faculty are integrating instructional technology into their classrooms. Admission is free.
