New gateway to campus one step closer to completion

August 9, 1999 By

Two brand-new lanes of Park Street between Regent and West Dayton streets opened to traffic Monday, Aug. 9, allowing travel in both directions.

The construction advance also means that the College Court, Fahrenbrook Court, Spring Street and Clymer Place intersections will re-open.

Now workers will finish up the two northbound lanes, and that will mean that drivers will not be able to turn east from Park onto Dayton. Westbound turns onto Dayton will still be allowed.

The segment of Park Street between West Dayton and University Avenue, which has been closed for reconstruction since May, will also re-open Monday.

The entire 18-month Park Street project is expected to be completed by mid-October. The new roadway will have two traffic lanes and a bike lane in each direction, as well as a grassy median.
