Movie crew seeks volunteers

June 18, 2003 By

If you’ve ever dreamed of being in the movies, this may be your opportunity. Touchstone Pictures is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to portray baseball fans in “Mr. 3000,” a film starring comedian Bernie Mac and Angela Bassett. Part of it is being filmed in Milwaukee this summer.

An invitation has been extended to UW–Madison employees and students, as well as their families and friends, to participate in the filming of crowd scenes at Miller Park on the nights of July 18 and 19. Participants will receive no monetary compensation.

Those who sign up will be given a preferential gate entrance, souvenir program and a concession coupon for lunch during the filming. They will also be eligible for prize raffles held every 15 minutes and for the daily grand prize. There will be entertainment and a chance to see the film’s actors at work.

Participants must be 18 years or older, or children ages 13 through 17 who are accompanied by an adult. They must be able to get around the park with ease, since the crowd may be required to move from lower to upper sections for the various camera shots. Miller Park offers wheelchair access for persons with disabilities.

To sign up as an individual or for a whole group, visit http://www.extrascastingmr3000.com and follow the instructions. UW–Madison’s four-digit code is 1001, and must be included in the sign-up in order for it to be valid. Be sure to read the FAQs link, too, for more information on the filming.
