Jeremy Foltz, Timo Goeschl, Bradford Barham, assistant professors and professor of agricultural and applied economics, and Frederick Buttel, professor of rural sociology, received a three-year, $400,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Research Initiative and a two-year, $150,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to study the rate and direction of research in agriculture and the life sciences at U.S. Land Grant universities. They will survey scientists and collect secondary data to analyze the changing incentive effects of new funding sources, such as patents and industry partnerships, on the types and quality of research undertaken at U.S. Land Grant universities.

HONORED
