Math professor earns Birkhoff Prize
Paul H. Rabinowitz, a professor of mathematics, has been awarded the 1998 George David Birkhoff Prize in Applied Mathematics.
Presented jointly by the American Mathematical Society and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the Birkhoff Prize recognizes “outstanding contributions to applied mathematics in the highest and broadest sense.”
Rabinowitz was cited for his “deep influence on the field of nonlinear analysis.”
