August 1, 1999

Tammy Thayer-Ali has been named vice president and director of marketing for the Center for Advanced Studies in Business, Inc. at the School of Business.

In her new position, Thayer-Ali will work with corporate clients to develop seminars and conferences to meet their executive training needs. She will also be responsible for developing marketing strategies for the Fluno Center for Executive Education, scheduled to open March 2000 on the UW–Madison campus. The new center, which includes classrooms, an amphitheater, 100 resident guest rooms, dining facilities and offices, will be owned and operated by CASB, the nonprofit corporation that supports the activities of Business School.

Thayer-Ali has more than 15 years of experience with public, private and international companies, including two of the largest conference providers in the world, IBC Gulf Conferences and Institute for International Research. As managing director at these organizations in Italy and the United Arab Emirates, she led teams that designed, developed and marketed training programs for senior executives. Thayer-Ali has an MBA from Boston University and bachelor’s degree in sociology from UW–Madison.

“We are pleased that Tammy has returned to her hometown to help build the Fluno Center into a world-class provider of executive education,” says Ted Beck, associate dean for executive education. “With her extensive international experience, Tammy brings a global perspective and understanding of the challenges business professionals face in the 21st century.”
