Madison police seek info in Randall Avenue robbery

At 10 p.m. on Sept. 19, Madison police responded to reports of a robbery at the corner of Randall Avenue and Mound Street.

Two UW–Madison students reported they were walking toward Vilas Park when two suspects robbed them.

One suspect was carrying a handgun and demanded the woman’s purse, which she gave to him. The robber also unsuccessfully tried to obtain the male victim’s wallet. A second suspect was nearby. Both fled on foot.

The first suspect is described as a black male, 20-30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 175 pounds, wearing a gray hoodie, a baseball cap and blue jeans. He was armed with a handgun.

The second suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Similar descriptions have been reported in recent incidents on Bascom Hill and Gilman Street. Anyone with information on the identity of the two men is urged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at (608) 266-6014.
