Language classes offered for business professionals

January 18, 2000

A continuing set of introductory-level language and culture courses designed to help business professionals communicate with their international counterparts will be held on the UW–Madison campus Jan. 24-March 22.

Spanish for Business Professionals will be offered Monday and Wednesday evenings, 6-7:30 p.m.

French for Business Professionals will be offered Monday and Wednesday evenings, 5:45 – 7:15 p.m.

The courses follow a set of introductory-level courses taught last fall. Participants must have taken the introductory class, or at least one semester of French or Spanish, or obtain the consent of the instructor in order to enroll.

Cost of the module is $250. Classes will be held in Grainger Hall, 975 University Ave. Metered parking is available under Grainger Hall.

A third and final module of the business language courses will be offered March 27-April 22 for $125.

Throughout the program, instructors will cover cultural issues in doing business abroad as well as focus on oral and written communication. Irene Geller will teach the French classes. Antonio Noguera will teach Spanish. Both have extensive experience teaching and doing business in the language.

Enrollment is limited and is offered on a first come-first served basis.

These new business language courses were developed by the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER) at the School of Business and the Division of Continuing Studies.
