A research colloquium April 27-28 sponsored by the Institute on Aging will feature guest lectures on creative aging and sustainable living.

The dinner lecture Thursday, April 27, “Creativity and Aging,” will be given by Gene Cohen, director of the Center on Aging, Health and Humanities at George Washington University. Cohen is co-founder of the Creativity Discovery Corps, a group that works to tell the stories of under-recognized older adults, especially those who are socially isolated and homebound.

Cohen’s talk will kick off the 12th annual colloquium at the Pyle Center, 702 Langdon St. On Friday, April 28, talks are scheduled from 9 a.m.-noon on gender differences with Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving issues for older husbands, treating prostate disease and preventing heart disease.

At noon Friday, Philip Lewis, emeritus professor of landscape architecture, will give the luncheon talk, “21 Steps for a Sustainable and Healthy 21st Century.”

Also during the colloquium, the institute will honor U.S. Sen. Russell Feingold, D-Wis., with its first annual public service award. Feingold is cited for his achievements as a seven-year member of the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging.
