Highland Avenue detour starting Monday, March 17

March 11, 2003

Rendering of Highland Ave. walkway

An enclosed pedestrian walkway linking the School of Pharmacy building (Rennebohm Hall) with the new Health Sciences Learning Center will be built over Highland Avenue starting March 17. The project will take up to three weeks to complete. Traffic will be detoured around the construction site via a temporary east-west road that will run from Highland Avenue through the center of Lot 85 on the south side of Rennebohm Hall to Observatory Drive. It will be marked with detour signs and fencing. Highland Avenue will be closed from the temporary road to the Walnut Street intersection. The remainder of the Highland/Walnut intersection will be open during construction, as will the hospital entry road. The campus bus route will not be affected by the project. City bus lines 2, 8, 28 and 53 will be re-routed onto the temporary road through Lot 85. The only bus stop missed during construction will be the northbound stop on Highland directly in front of Rennebohm Hall.
