Group introduces technology into movement art

February 11, 2003 By Doreen Adamany

Robert Wechsler, choreographer, and Frieder Weiss, computer engineer — two core members of Palindrome Intermedia Performance Group — will be in residence at the Dance Program through Sunday, Feb. 23.

The artists will teach master classes, conduct evening workshops and give presentations open to the public during their two-week residency. They’ve also been invited to perform in associate dance professor Jin-Wen Yu’s concert in Lathrop Hall, Feb. 20-22.

Since 1994, the group’s work has focused exclusively on the application of computers and other new technologies to human movement art.

Wechsler and Weiss’s workshops will culminate in a final presentation by participants 2-3 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space in Lathrop Hall. It is free and open to the public. Members of the campus community are invited to participate in the workshops. For information, registration: 262-2353 or http://www.palindrome.de.
