Geodes focus of museum exhibit

October 4, 2002 By Terry Devitt

Geodes, those dazzling, colorful crystalline rocks prized by children and adult collectors alike, are the focus of a special exhibit during October at the UW–Madison Geology Museum.

Through the end of the month, the museum will have on display its most interesting and novel geodes, including specimens from geode hot spots such as Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and Iowa.

The special exhibit will be on display with the museum’s regular collection. Admission to the exhibit and the museum, located in UW–Madison’s Weeks Hall, 1215 W. Dayton St., is free. Museum hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
