Policies and procedures

Pesticide Application
In accordance with the university’s storm-water permit and pesticide use policy, pesticide applicators are to notify Central Answering and Response Service, 263-3333, prior to using a pesticide. In addition, applicators are to notify faculty, staff, students and visitors of their pesticide use by a reasonable and effective means, such as posting signs where pesticides have been applied; distributing posters, flyers and electronic mail to people who may frequent the application area; or publishing a notice on the Safety Department’s Web site at http://www.fpm.wisc.edu/safety. The policy is posted.

The Pesticide Use Policy encourages best management practices that maximize effectiveness and safety, and minimize environmental impact. Pesticides used in research and teaching are expected to abide by this policy’s objectives, although alternative procedures may be allowed for the purposes of academic study.

Check http://www.fpm.wisc.edu/safety or call Sally Rowe of the Safety Department, 262-0979, for pesticide label information, information about hazards and exposures to using pesticides, or information regarding pollutants in storm water.

Evening MBA Program Scholarship
The School of Business has designated one evening master’s of business administration program scholarship each year for a UW–Madison employee. This scholarship will, subject to the conditions described below, pay 90 percent of tuition and fees for the program’s three years. The recipient pays for books, supplies, parking and other costs. The scholarship must be used to begin the program in the year for which application was made. The scholarship cannot be deferred to a subsequent entry year, although an applicant is welcome to reapply and will be considered with the pool of scholarship applicants for that subsequent year.

To be eligible to receive the scholarship each semester, the recipient must remain a student in good standing in the program. The scholarship will be discontinued if the recipient terminates employment with the UW–Madison while in the program. Recipients who choose to terminate employment sooner than one year following graduation must repay 50 percent of the scholarship’s value. Recipients who choose to terminate employment later than one year but sooner than two years following graduation must repay 25 percent.

Candidates apply to the evening MBA program and for the scholarship. Applicants admitted to the program through the regular competitive process can be considered for the scholarship. Application deadline for the Evening MBA Program and the scholarship is May 1. For application: Linda Uitvlugt, 3150 Grainger, 262-3534, luitvlugt@bus.wisc.edu.
