Rob Forget is associate director of recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, a position he’s held since November 2005.

  1. Describe your job. I am responsible for all aspects of new student recruitment in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. It is my job to oversee all recruiting activities, as well as coordinate with other campus units involved in recruiting prospective students. As part of the leadership team, I assist the director of admissions with the administration of the office, determination of admissions policies, and the development and implementation of a strategic recruitment and admissions plan.
  2. You’re new to campus. What made you want to work at UW–Madison? I was drawn to UW–Madison because of its national and international recognition for academic excellence. After interviewing for the position, meeting the faculty, staff and students as well as seeing the beautiful campus, I was convinced further that UW–Madison was a great fit.
  3. What is your favorite memory of the university? Only being here 11 months I don’t have too many memories; however, I would have to say the day my son and I came down from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to attend our first Badger football game is something I will never forget. The atmosphere and excitement of game day and the infectious school spirit are truly amazing.
  4. What has surprised you most or challenged you most as you have started working at UW–Madison? I came to UW–Madison from a much smaller university, so adjusting to the tremendous volume of applications and inquiries has been a challenge. It takes a huge effort from our staff to be able to manage their time between reviewing applications and getting out nationally and recruiting prospective students. UW–Madison is fortunate to have such a hard-working group of individuals.
  5. If you could ask anyone on campus any question, who and what would it be? I would like to ask athletic director Barry Alvarez when my season pass for all athletic events will arrive. I am a huge sports fan!
