Faster appointed editor of Wisconsin Week

September 9, 2003

Karen Faster has joined University Communications as editor of Wisconsin Week. Most recently, Faster worked as a program assistant in the communications office while completing her doctorate in mass communications. In that position, she assisted with editing and production of the faculty-staff newspaper, and monitored submissions to the campus online events calendar, among other duties.

In her new role, Faster will lead all aspects of Wisconsin Week, as well as assisting with media relations and various writing projects.

“Karen brings more than 11 years of experience in news and feature writing, and is a solid hands-on editor and publications coordinator,” says Amy Toburen, director of University Communications. “She has produced and advised college publications, worked as a copy editor for three daily newspapers, and has taught journalism courses at UW-Whitewater. We are pleased to have her on our team in this new capacity.”

Faster holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Minnesota, respectively. She recently served as president of the board of directors for the Daily Cardinal, and is an active member of the Atwood neighborhood.
