Fans are reminded that security guidelines still in place

October 10, 2003 By

UW Police are reminding fans who are planning to attend Saturday night’s game at Camp Randall Stadium that there are several items they will not be allowed to carry into the stadium.

The list of items that are not permitted is not new, and fans have been cooperative with the restrictions. However, police are issuing the reminder to help clear up any confusion, including suggestions from some news outlets that fans should remember to bring their umbrellas.

Umbrellas are banned for safety and security reasons. Should the possibility of rain remain in the weather forecast, fans should bring ponchos instead.

Other items that are not allowed in the stadium include:

* Coolers of any type
* Thermoses
* Backpacks
* Large bags, such as gym bags, tote bags, etc.
* Luggage
* Strollers
* Food or beverage items

Claim checks for these prohibited items will not be available. Fans are encouraged to leave them in their vehicles or at home.

Small purses, fanny packs, stadium blankets and seat cushions are allowed.

For the safety and security of all stadium guests, people and items entering the stadium will be subject to search.
