UW Online Short Courses
Six-week courses begin every month. Choose from the following categories: Internet, Computer, Certification Prep, Writing, Personal Enrichment, Legal and Business. Try a course demonstration at http://www.ed2go.com/demo/. Cost: $79-$199. Information: 265-5221, rkdix@wisc.edu.

Swim-Stroke Analysis Available
The UW Health Sports Medicine Center will analyze swim strokes by videotaping swimmers above and below the water. The analysis is helpful for people training for triathlons and the Ironman competition, and those who want to maximize efficiency and prevent injuries. For individuals who would like additional technique work, the center offers technique swim lessons, which lets swimmers apply information obtained through stroke analysis to their swimming with individualized lessons with an aquatic specialist. Call 265-8350 to schedule appointments.

Online Marathon Training
The Wisconsin Alumni Association and Ron Carda, kinesiology, are offering marathon training during spring semester. Learn and train online alongside current students and alumni from around the country. Online course runs Jan. 22 through May 14, with a new lecture posted each Wednesday. Cost is $75-$90. The course will guide trainees through the process of designing and implementing an individual training plan. Each week, lecture notes, graphs and all related materials will be posted and archived on the class Web site. Participants can stay in regular contact with Carda through e-mail, as he will provide individual feedback and coaching throughout the course. In addition, class members will develop an online community through a message board, where ideas, questions and encouragement can be shared.
