Entering freshmen can now register for summer orientation online

May 4, 2006

Admitted freshmen who have paid the $100 enrollment deposit can now register for Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) using the online reservation system. The SOAR reservation system is available through the My UW Web portal. In order to access the system, you must activate your NetID. To activate your NetID (if you haven’t already), visit my.wisc.edu and click on Activate Your NetID. You will need your 10-digit campus ID number, which can be found on your admission letter.

Once you’ve activated your NetID, visit the My UW Web portal and log in for more information and instructions on how to make a reservation for one of the more than 30 SOAR sessions offered from early June to the end of July. These sessions are a day and a half in duration. Students need to attend both days in order to enroll in classes. Parents and/or guests are invited to attend at the same time for a separate, supportive session. They will learn about advising, course enrollment, resources, and campus life, as well as what to expect during the transition from high school to college.

For more information about SOAR, visit the SOAR Web site.
