Employee orientation, resource fair set

October 7, 2003

Longtime and new employees alike can learn more about the campus and the resources it offers at the Employee Orientation and Resource Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 8 a.m.-noon in the Kohl Center.

Employees can visit with resource representatives from about 40 campus departments, offices and organizations, including unions, personnel offices, recreational sports, the Elvehjem Museum of Art, UW Extension and child care. Employees can learn about the campus’s rich history, culture, vision and priorities, and how they relate to UW–Madison.

“Each office will showcase different services or programs that they have for employees,” says fair organizer Rebecca Morgan, Office of Human Resource Development. “Regardless of how long people have been employees, they will discover something new about the campus.”

A new feature this year is a Web site listing professional development opportunities campuswide. The site, http://www.myprofdev.wisc.edu, provides a great way for people to learn about professional development events in other offices or departments, Morgan says.

Employees can also tour the Kohl Center or the campus via Badger Trolley Bus. The Kohl Center tour takes participants behind the scenes, while the campus tour gives employees a bigger picture of the campus, beyond what they see as part of their regular workday, Morgan says.
