Employee flu shot availability doubled

In response to last year’s overwhelming demand, the Safety Department will more than double the locations and hours of on-campus employee flu shot clinics.

Flu shot clinics will be provided at 16 campus locations beginning Monday, Oct. 30, and running until Friday, Nov. 17, up from seven last year. The Safety Department has set a goal of immunizing 5,600 employees.

“This fall, we’re planning to offer a broader variety of times and locations to better meet the schedules of faculty, academic staff and classified staff,” says Tom Kenney, UW–Madison occupational health officer. “We’re hopeful that this will lead to significantly shorter wait times at the clinics.”

For employees with Dean Care, Physicians Plus, Group Health Cooperative or Unity health insurance, flu shots are administered at no charge if you bring your insurance card with you to the clinic.

If you do not bring your insurance card with you, a fee of $28 for the flu shot will be required. If you pay for the shot on site, a receipt will be provided so you can obtain reimbursement from your health insurance provider. Please plan to pay with cash or check.

Clinics organized by the Safety Department are designed specifically to accommodate demand from employees, not spouses or children, who are encouraged to receive shots from a health-care provider.

Student flu shots will be available from University Health Services beginning in late October. More information will be announced when a starting date is set.

  • Oct. 30, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Room 108, UW Colleges, 700 Regent St.
  • Oct. 31, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Room 120-122, Waisman Center
  • Nov. 1, 3–5 p.m.: PSL Building-Main Conference Room, Kegonsa Ag Research Station
  • Nov. 1, 10:30 p.m.–midnight: Room 2255, School of Veterinary Medicine
  • Nov. 2, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Fish Bowl Conference Room, State Hygiene Lab
  • Nov. 3, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Room 103-105, Ingraham Hall
  • Nov. 6, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Chenay Room 1413, Engineering Hall
  • Nov. 7, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: Room 2010A, Medical Sciences Center
  • Nov. 8, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.: On Wisconsin Room, Red Gym
  • Nov. 8, 10:30 p.m.-midnight: Check Today in the Union for room location, Memorial Union
