Dean’s review begins

September 19, 2007

A review is under way for Graduate School Dean Martin Cadwallader.

The review is part of a regular process in which each dean is reviewed at five-year intervals to assess the dean’s academic and administrative leadership, including areas of responsibility such as external relations and resource management.

Review committee members, appointed by the chancellor and the provost, are Julie D’Acci (women’s studies); Adam Gamoran (sociology and Wisconsin Center for Education Research); Thomas Kuech (chemical and biological engineering); Gordon Mitchell (comparative biosciences); Petra Schroeder (Graduate School); and Marsha Mailick Seltzer (Waisman Center). Charles Read (linguistics and School of Education, emeritus) chairs the committee.

The review process includes interviews with the dean’s constituents and invites comments from the university community regarding the dean’s leadership and administration. A Web-based survey for faculty and staff is being planned.

Written comments regarding Cadwallader’s review may be addressed to the committee chair at wcread@wisc.edu, or other committee members. The deadline for submitting comments or interview requests is Monday, Oct. 15. Please understand that written communications might become public if requested under the Wisconsin public records law.
