Dance programming abounds on campus during February

February may be short, but it’s long on programming by the Dance Program.

Performances showcasing world dance, the Spring Student Concert and the annual high school workshop are among special events on the docket this month.

Performances are held in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space in Lathrop Hall. Many are free and open to the public, with the exception of the Spring Student Concert, to be held Thursday–Saturday, Feb. 26–28. Tickets are currently on sale through the Wisconsin Union Theater box office, 262-2201. Remaining tickets will be sold at the door beginning one hour before the performances. Upcoming events include:

  • Friday Forum: International dance sampler. 3:30–4:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 13.
  • Friday Forum: Moonshine, 3:30–4:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20.

    To celebrate Black History Month, Dance Program students come together with the First Wave urban arts learning community, an African dance performance class, and the theater department to participate in this year’s Moonshine ritual under the artistic direction of assistant professor Chris Walker.

  • Spring Student Concert, 8 p.m. Thursday–Saturday, Feb. 26–28.

    Emerging choreographers in the Dance Program are encouraged to create and present original work in the for this professionally produced, all-student concert.

  • Annual Dance Program high school workshop, Saturday, Feb. 27, Lathrop Hall. Register online.
