Computing upgrades completed

January 17, 2006

UW–Madison completed two major computing upgrades at the end of 2005.

The Integrated Student Information System (ISIS) upgrade was successfully completed on Dec. 12 with the launch of Oracle’s v8.9 Campus Solutions software.

It marked the successful culmination of almost a year’s worth of collaborative development and testing between developers and management at both UW–Madison and Oracle.

Since 1997, ISIS has supplied data on undergraduate and graduate admissions, enrollment, curricular information and timetable, financial aid, student fees and records in general to all those on campus requiring access to student data for their work.

Along with the need to stay current with new technology, a key goal for the v8.9 upgrade was student, adviser and faculty self-service via improved integration with the campus Web portal.

In addition, an upgrade of the Shared Financial System was successfully completed, providing Web-based delivery of information and moving the system from PeopleSoft 7.5 to 8.8.
