Coming up on the Big Ten Network

The following UW–Madison programming is scheduled for the Big Ten Network in the coming weeks.

Tuesday, March 30

  • 2 p.m.: “Office Hours”: Political science professor Ken Goldstein hosts. Professor Charles DeMets and assistant professor Harold Tobin discuss the recent rash of earthquakes across the world. Is it a coincidence or something more? We’ll separate fact from fiction in this program.
  • 2:30 p.m.: “5-Minute Lectures”: Professors summarize interesting research and teaching on campus in these mini lectures. Topics are geostrophic paradox, theater for cultural awareness, magic of moving magnets, and Aldo Leopold and climate change.

Wednesday, March 31

  • 2 a.m.: “Wisconsin Reflections”: Interview show featuring prominent alumni and friends. Ed Garvey, a lawyer, politician and activist, is interviewed. He is editor and publisher of online political magazine FightingBob.com.

Tuesday, April 6

  • Noon “Office Hours”: Professors Scott Straus and Michael Schatzberg discuss the human rights crisis in the Congo. Genocide, dictatorship and anarchy rule in parts of Africa. We’ll take a look at the crisis and what’s being done internationally about the situation.
  • 12:30 p.m.: “100 years of ‘On, Wisconsin!’”: Half-hour documentary covers UW–Madison fight song’s history, lore and what it means to alumni.
  • 9:30 p.m.: “Office Hours”: Professors Scott Straus and Michael Schatzberg discuss the human rights crisis in the Congo. Genocide, dictatorship and anarchy rule in parts of Africa. We’ll take a look at the crisis and what’s being done internationally about the situation.
