Following is a look at the UW–Madison-related programming scheduled for the next two weeks on the Big Ten Network.

Friday, Oct. 9

  • 10 a.m. Wisconsin Reflections: “Wisconsin Reflections” is an interview show featuring prominent UW–Madison alumni and friends and is taped in front of a live audience. Professor of bass Richard Davis is interviewed. He has performed and recorded with Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand and Miles Davis. Rerun.
  • 4 p.m. “Wisconsin Reflections”: Features the 2009 Distinguished Alumni Award winners.

Saturday, Oct. 10

  • 4 a.m. “Walk Wisconsin”: Gives viewers a tour of campus.

Monday, Oct. 12

  • 10 a.m. Office Hours: Political science professor Ken Goldstein hosts “Office Hours,” a half-hour weekly talk show. Kevin Strang, faculty associate in physiology, discusses the effects of alcohol on the body.
  • 10:30 a.m. “5-Minute Lecture”: UW–Madison professors summarize interesting research and teaching on campus in these mini lectures. Topics are geostrophic paradox, theater for cultural awareness, magic of moving magnets, and Aldo Leopold and climate change.
  • 4 p.m. “Office Hours”: Episode discusses AIDS research on campus and new breakthroughs around the world.
  • 4:30 p.m. “Wisconsin Reflections”: Features alumna Suzy Favor Hamilton, Olympic runner and former three-time Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year.

Tuesday, Oct. 13

  • 4 a.m. “In My Humble Opinion (IMHO)”: Five student panelists discuss student life at UW–Madison on this half-hour show. Panelists discuss student finances.
  • 4:30 a.m. “The Wheel”: “The Wheel” is a half-hour magazine-style program showcasing university stories and is reported and hosted by students. Topics in this episode are student sexuality, hands-on learning in engineering, the Wiscontrepreneur Challenge and the “Jump Around” tradition.

Monday, Oct. 19

  • 10 a.m. “Office Hours”: Features nutritional sciences chair and professor Susan Nitzke and horticulture professor and associate dean Irwin Goldman. Rerun.
  • 10:30 a.m. “5-Minute Lecture”: Topics are stem cell research, scientific freedom, public opinion and leadership, and benefits of hot peppers.
  • 4 p.m. “Office Hours”: New episode discusses consumer spending habits since the beginning of the recession.
  • 4:30 p.m. “The Wisconsin Idea”: Magazine-style special features different programs at UW–Madison that highlight the Wisconsin Idea. Rerun.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

  • 4 a.m. “IMHO”: Panelists discuss characteristics of their generation.
  • 4:30 a.m. “Wisconsin Reflections”: Features jazz pianist and Wisconsin resident Ben Sidran.
