Census kicks off in University Housing

April 12, 2010 By John Lucas

Residents of University Housing will begin receiving Census forms in their hall mailboxes today, Monday, April 12

To do your part to participate in the Census, follow these three easy steps:

  • Pick up your 2010 Census form, which will be delivered to your residence hall mailbox today, Monday, April 12, 2010.
  • Complete your Census form and place it in the envelope provided to ensure confidentiality of your responses.
  • Return your completed form to the Census collection table near your residence hall mailbox on Monday, April 12 or Tuesday, April 13, with a “last chance” opportunity on Wednesday, April 14.

Housing resident Census forms must be returned to hall collection tables. See below for listing of locations.

“We appreciate your efforts to be part of this important national effort to have everyone counted,” says Dean of Students Lori Berquam.

Important Note: Question #6 reads: “Do you live or stay in this facility MOST OF THE TIME?” For any full-time student living in the residence halls, the answer is “Yes.” (Do not answer “no.” All full-time students living in University Housing are to be counted in Madison.)

Collection Locations are as follows:

  • Smith lobby for Smith Hall
  • Ogg lobby for Ogg Hall and Susan B. Davis House
  • Sellery lobby for Sellery Hall
  • Witte lobby for Witte Hall
  • Chadbourne lobby for Chadbourne and Barnard Halls
  • Holt lobby for Bradley, Cole, Friedrick, Kronshage, and Sullivan Halls
  • Elizabeth Waters Lobby for Elizabeth Waters Hall
  • Tripp Gatehouse for Adams, Tripp, Slichter Halls

Students living off-campus are also urged to fill out Census forms and drop them in the mail.

The Census is a count of everyone living in the United States and is mandated by the U.S. Constitution. Results will be used to help Madison and Dane County receive a fair share of $400 billion in federal funds. Funding can be used for schools, health facilities, transportation and local programs.
