March 30, 2000

Fans who can’t make it to Indianapolis Saturday, April 1, or are just tired of squinting at a shoebox-sized television can watch the Final Four and join the excitement at the Memorial Union Rathskeller or Union South.

The broadcast, with the Wisconsin Badgers facing the Michigan State Spartans, will be shown on big-screen TVs in the Stiftskeller and Rathskeller at Memorial Union. Following the game, at 9:30 p.m., Madison rock favorites Sunspot, with opening act Uncle Eddie, will perform in the Rathskeller.

At Union South, a big-screen TV will be showing the game in the Games Room in the lower level, along with five other large TVs. Snacks, pizza and beverages will be available for purchase.

After the game, from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., fans with university IDs can celebrate the Badger victory by dancing the night away at a Retro ’80s Night DJ dance party in Club 770, UW–Madison’s non-toxic, smoke and alcohol free nightspot in Union South. And in Room 109, Union South will host an April Fool’s Ball, with swing dancing from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

At University Housing, six of the eight major halls plan to bring students together to watch the game on big screen or projection television. Cafeterias will show the game and offer students free snacks. Housing expects most of the 77 televisions in residence hall lounges and dens will be tuned to the game.
