Camp Randall cannon dedication ceremony planned

October 3, 2008 By Terry Devitt

The University of Wisconsin–Madison will host a brief dedication ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, at Camp Randall Memorial Park for a replica cannon carriage for one of Camp Randall’s historic Civil War cannons. The ceremony will include Civil War re-enactors in period uniforms.

The old carriage was in disrepair and was replaced with an all-aluminum replica purchased with funds provided by the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The new carriage was fabricated by Paulson Bros. Ordinance, Clear Lake, Wis., which makes replica carriages used by the National Park Service and which are known for their durability and historic authenticity.
