‘Bucky Goes to Camp … Randall’ for Homecoming

October 2, 2006

From Friday, Oct. 6-Sunday, Oct. 15, the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus will be ablaze with fun-filled Homecoming activities for the whole community.

In keeping with this year’s “Bucky Goes to Camp … Randall” theme, there are plenty of outdoor events to enjoy during Homecoming Week.

On Friday, Oct. 6, students will build cardboard canoes and race them in Lake Mendota in front of the Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St.

The community will lace up on Sunday, Oct. 8, for the annual Charity Run/Walk to benefit the Dean of Students Crisis Fund, then tee off for a good cause on Friday, Oct. 13, at the Homecoming Golf Outing at University Ridge. That evening, Badger fans and friends will gather on lower State Street to watch the big parade, then move to the Memorial Union Terrace for a pep rally and fireworks display.

The week wraps up on Saturday, Oct. 14, with the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s tailgate at the UW–Madison Field House, followed by the Wisconsin vs. Minnesota border battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe at Camp Randall Stadium.

New this year is a special Babcock Dairy ice cream flavor, concocted just for Homecoming. Stop by the Memorial Union on Friday, Oct. 13, during the all-alumni reception for a taste of “Back for S’more,” a combination of chocolate flakes, marshmallow swirl, graham crackers and chocolate ice cream. The tempting treat will be a featured flavor on campus during October.

Badger fans can gear up for Camp Randall with exclusive Homecoming T-shirt designs.
