Bring out your badger with The Red Shirt

August 28, 2008 By Kate Dixon

Badger alumni, students and fans are kicking off the season with style and substance by wearing The Red Shirt, created to reflect the University of Wisconsin–Madison tradition of spirit and giving back.

Sales of The Red Shirt, a one-of-a-kind, collectible T-shirt developed by the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA), will benefit student scholarships and programming under WAA’s mission to serve alumni and students of UW–Madison.

Proceeds will contribute to the more than $550,000 awarded to UW–Madison students each year through WAA’s matching dollar scholarship program.

“This truly unique shirt is a fun way to bring out your inner Badger and show your UW spirit, while giving back to the UW at the same time,” says Paula Bonner, WAA president and CEO. “By wearing the first edition of The Red Shirt, students, grads and friends all over the world are starting an important new university tradition.”

The Red Shirt, priced at $15, is available online.

Shirts are also available at the Wisconsin Alumni Association, 650 N. Lake St., and at University Book Store retail outlets in Madison. Student-run campus groups are also able to sell The Red Shirt to raise funds for their student organizations.
