Badger Family Spring Visit continues through April
Spring is a great time to visit UW–Madison and the Madison area. Register now for the Badger Spring Visit, going on all month.
The Parent Program, an office of Campus and Visitor Relations, will host the sixth annual Badger Family Spring Visit again this month, with about 800 families expected to visit the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Parents and families of current UW–Madison students are invited to choose a weekend in April to visit Madison and enjoy time with their students on campus and in the community.
The Parent Program showcases a menu of free and low-cost family-friendly events throughout the month, including sporting events, tours, musical and theater entertainment, educational opportunities, dining options and more. Registration is free.
“The goal of the weekend is to give families an economical opportunity to visit their student and feel connected to the campus and the surrounding community,” says Patti Lux-Weber, Parent Program coordinator. “The month of April offers so many memorable events. We look forward to welcoming families so that they can experience the beauty of springtime in Madison.”
A few popular events include the spring football game, the Dane County Farmers’ Market, the Varsity Band Concert, the Crazylegs Classic Run/Walk, Humorology and many Overture Center performances. Events are also customized specifically for families throughout the month, including specialized tours and an open house hosted by International Academic Programs.
In celebration of Badger families, the Parent Program and Babcock Dairy have created an ice cream flavor, Berry Proud Parent, made of vanilla ice cream, raspberries and chocolate. The ice cream flavor is available at both Memorial Union and Union South.
Groups hosting a weekend event during the rest of April, are urged to contact the Parent Program so that they may feature it as part of the visit. Registration is open throughout the month. All families who attend receive a complimentary welcome bag that includes a fun Badger item, coupons for ice cream and B-Cycle and more.
