TIP/School of Music’s guest artist visits high school band

The University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Music presents guest artists throughout the year, usually in short residencies that feature a recital and one or two master classes. In the case of current guest artist James Jenkins, who plays the tuba, the model has been expanded to include an outreach activity at one of Madison’s public high schools.

Undergraduate invention competitions slated for Feb 8-9

Ski bindings, a reclining wheelchair, digital window-front advertising, a page-turning machine and an online community are rarely found in the same context. But they and 15 other inventions, all conceived and built by University of Wisconsin-Madison undergraduate students, will be the center of attention at the annual UW-Madison Innovation Days competitions, to be held Feb. 8-9 in the Mechanical Engineering Building on the College of Engineering campus.

For seriously ill patients, a UW center helps navigate an emotional journey

In the spirit of the Wisconsin Idea, the UW Center for Patient partnerships uses the resources of the university to spread hope and give guidance to seriously patients all over the state. The center combines the knowledge of the health care, legal and social work staff and students with the determination of patients to create a synergy that can improve health care in Wisconsin.
