Artists sought for UW-themed CowParade Wisconsin designs

January 17, 2006

The University of Wisconsin is accepting proposals from artists to create UW-themed cow designs for this summer’s CowParade Wisconsin.

CowParade is a public art event that takes art out of the museums and onto the streets. The public-art exhibition places life-size Fiberglass cows designed and created by host-city artists in city landscapes for public viewing. Although the base cow sculptures are the same, each city’s artists interpret the cows as art in their own ways.

The cows will come to Wisconsin in June. The university plans to sponsor some cows that will be displayed on campus. The deadline for artists to submit proposals for UW-themed cow designs is Friday, Feb. 3, and all artists, from acclaimed to amateur, are encouraged to send designs. Accepted artists will receive a $1,000 stipend.
