Application processing time line update

December 20, 2007

Released Nov. 1, 2007

As a result of major technological changes in the Office of Admissions, we are currently experiencing significant delays in the processing of application materials and the timeliness of admission decisions. Applicants should allow at least five weeks for their application to be loaded into our system and checked for completeness. It may take up to three weeks for materials mailed separately to be matched to the application and for the status of those materials to be updated online. It will take approximately four weeks for a decision to be made once the application is complete.

Applicants are encouraged to monitor the Application Status Check Web site for updates. The system will note which application materials have not yet been confirmed as being received. It will also notify applicants once an admission decision has been made. The Application Status Check Web site will have the most current and accurate information on application materials and admission decisions.

Please do not phone to inquire on the receipt of materials and/or resubmit materials unless the above-noted processing and decision time lines have passed. Additional telephone and e-mail inquiries and duplicate admission materials will further delay the process.

Because the University of Wisconsin practices rolling admissions and recognizes the equal-consideration deadline of February 1, the admission decision an applicant receives will not be negatively impacted by the processing delays. All applications received and completed by February 1 receive full and equal consideration for admission.

Thank you for your patience as we work to incorporate the new technology and become more efficient in our process.
