The waiting can be the hardest part of online ordering. But thanks to a new Amazon pickup site at Sellery Residence Hall, UW–Madison students, faculty and staff won’t be waiting as long.

Graphic: Amazon logoThe 2,500-square-foot site, located at 821 W. Johnson St. on the east side of Sellery Hall, directly across from Anytime Fitness, is now open on campus, offering free one-day pickup on orders placed before 10 p.m. for Amazon Prime customers. Free returns are also available on Prime items and store associates will be available to help with customer service questions.

How it works:

  • Place your order.
  • Choose Amazon@UWMadison as your shipping address at checkout.
  • You will receive an email or push notification (if using the Amazon app).
  • When the order is ready to pick up, you will click on a link provided in the email that will generate a barcode.
  • Arrive at Sellery Residence Hall to scan the barcode and pick up the order from a self-service locker.

The agreement between UW–Madison and Amazon will generate revenue for investment in the university’s public mission.

UW-Madison students, faculty and staff are heavy users of Amazon and other online retailers. The establishment of a campus pickup location should minimize delivery traffic and simplify package delivery. It also ensures that students receive the packages they have ordered, which is frequently a problem with locked or unstaffed apartments and houses.

Amazon has entered into similar agreements with other universities, including Purdue University; University of Massachusetts Amherst; University of California, Berkeley; University of Pennsylvania; University of Texas at Austin; University of California, Davis; Georgia Institute of Technology; California State University, Long Beach; University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; University of Illinois at Chicago; University of California, San Diego; and Stony Brook University.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, visit Amazon.com/UWMadison.
