Alumni get new gateway to UW-Madison

June 8, 2001

The Wisconsin Alumni Association recently launched a customizable Web site that promises to connect more alumni to the university and each other.

Now, grads who want to keep up with what’s happening on campus and around the world can log on to for the latest in events and information. WAA expects this site will be the place where loyal UW alumni begin their day.

“Every day for at least four years, UW grads started their day on the Madison campus,” says Paula Bonner, executive director of WAA. “Now that they’ve graduated and live all around the world, they want to be involved in news and events happening in their area, but they want to remember life at UW–Madison. Our Web site allows them to do both the minute they open their browsers.”

Because the Web site is a portal, in addition to standard campus news, alumni events and career information, users can customize their home page to include national news and sports, local weather forecasts, personal financial data, and more. At any time, users can add and remove sections, as well as control the amount of information provided at a glance.

Alumni are encouraged to join the online community by bookmarking the site in their browsers. WAA will run contests periodically for frequent as well as first-time visitors, and will add features such as bulletin boards and online discussion groups that will continue to facilitate alumni connections.

The Wisconsin Alumni Association has been serving UW–Madison and its graduates since 1861. WAA provides an array of services designed to connect alumni to the UW, enrich their lives and serve their many needs.
