November 2, 2004 By Doreen Adamany

Dance program alumna Nora Stephens returns to campus with her New York City dance company, noranewdanceco, in early November to present a free concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 6, in the Margaret H’Doubler Performance Space in Lathrop Hall.

Stephens also will talk to students at the dance program’s Friday Forum at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, in Lathrop Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

Stephens, a choreographer and video artist, founded noranewdanceco in 1999 with funding from UW–Madison, where she received two senior honors research fellowships to start the company. Dance program alumnae and company members Liza Domnitz and Meghan McCoy, along with musician/composer Ryan Smith, a School of Music alumnus, return with Stephens to perform in the concert.

Since relocating to New York City in the fall of 2001, noranewdanceco has performed at the Brooklyn Museum, the Mulberry Street Theatre as part of Newsteps, the Construction Co., the Joyce SoHo as part of the Dancenow/NYC Festival, the Williamsburg Arts neXus, the Old American Can Factory and at Dixon Place, among other venues throughout the city.
