Ask Bucky
Actual questions from real people, answered by the friendly folks at the Campus Information and Visitor Center.

Q: Do faculty and staff get a discount rate at University Ridge Golf Course?
A: Unfortunately, no discounts are given to faculty or staff. However, you can save by golfing Monday-Thursday when rates are slightly lower. Group outing rates offer a discount and are available for eight or more players. The course is scheduled to open on or about April 10, depending on weather. More information is available at http://www.uwbadgers.com/facilities/ridge/index.aspx.

Q: Where can I find out more about summer camps for kids at UW–Madison?
A: The Office of Youth Programs produces a youth program directory. E-mail info@dcs.wisc.edu or call 262-1156 for a copy. Information is also available at http://www.dcs.wisc.edu/classes/youth.htm.

Your questions for CIVC can be asked in person at its office on the first floor of the Red Gym; or call 263-2400 or e-mail askbucky@redgym.wisc.edu.

Arboretum Nature Photography Group celebrates “Spring Views”
Nature photographs celebrating the coming of spring are on display until Tuesday, April 29, at the Arboretum’s Visitor Center, 1207 Seminole Highway.

Members of the Friends of the Arboretum Photography Group, which includes many highly regarded nature photographers who have exhibited in venues around the area, are showing photos of wildflowers, trees in bloom or bud, and birds.

Several of the photographs are available for purchase with profits supporting Arboretum projects. In addition, notecards with photographs from selected exhibitors are available in the Arboretum’s bookstore.

For more than 20 years, nature photographers have met at the Arboretum to sharpen their technical skills and share their work with fellow members. The group meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Friends, members and their guests are invited.

The 1,260-acre Arboretum features the restored prairies, forests and wetlands of pre-settlement Wisconsin. It also houses flowering trees, shrubs and a world-famous lilac collection.

The Arboretum Visitor Center is open 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays and 12:30-4 p.m. weekends. Admission is free. Contact the center at 263-7888 or visit the Web site at http://www.wisc.edu/arboretum.
