Ask Bucky celebrats 10 years

Ask Bucky is a service provided by Visitor and Information Programs. For more information, call 263-2400, visit the Campus Information Center in the Red Gym or the new Welcome Center, 21 N. Park St., or visit us at http://www.vip.wisc.edu.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Ask Bucky e-mail service.

As e-mail flourished in popularity in the mid-1990s, the Office of Visitor and Information Programs (VIP), formerly called the Campus Assistance Center, responded in 1996 by creating Ask Bucky e-mail as an extension of its phone and walk-in information and referral service.

For the past decade, Ask Bucky has answered tens of thousands of questions regarding the who, what, when, where, why and how of life at UW–Madison from prospective students, current students, faculty, staff, visitors and members of the university community. Located at the Bascom Hall Information Desk, Ask Bucky fields approximately 300 e-mails each month, and most messages are responded to within one business day.

The campus community is invited to join VIP in celebrating Ask Bucky’s anniversary. All day Tuesday, Nov. 28, students may stop by the Bascom Hall Information Desk to enter Ask Bucky’s Anniversary Raffle for a chance to win a free semester’s worth of textbooks from the University Book Store or tickets to a variety of UW–Madison men’s and women’s athletic events. Also that day, anniversary cake will be served in Bascom Hall beginning at 11 a.m. For more information, visit http://www.vip.wisc.edu or call 263-2400.
