Activist Hayden to speak

Tom Hayden, activist and Irish-affairs commentator, will speak at three campus events Thursday, Oct. 3, and Friday, Oct. 4. Known for his activist activities in the 1960s, Hayden in recent years served in the California legislature and became involved in the peace process in Northern Ireland. His visit is sponsored by the Department of History, the Harvey Goldberg Center and the Havens Center. These events are scheduled:

  • Lecture, “Saving Democracy from Globalization and from the War on Terror,” Thursday, Oct. 3, 8 p.m., 1100 Grainger.
  • Lunch and talk, “Reflections on “Irish on the Inside,'” Friday, Oct. 4, noon, University Club. Reservations: $7, ttobias@facstaff.wisc.edu.
  • “Seminar on the Sixties,” Hayden and Professor Jeremi Suri, Friday, Oct. 4, 2-4 p.m., Curti Lounge, Humanities Building.
