Wisconsin Union Theater announces 2006–07 season

World Music Festival, Isthmus Jazz series among planned events

The Wisconsin Union Theater has announced its upcoming 2006-07 season offerings.

The season will offer eight shows inthe Concert Series: Jeffrey Siegel and his Keyboard Conversations; world music artists in the World Stage Series; the free Madison World Music Festival, which features three days of musicians from all over the world performing on the Union Terrace and at the Union Theater; special events, including dance, theater and music offerings; a travel adventure film series; and the new Isthmus Jazz Series.

With internationally renowned violinist Joshua Bell and opera’s latest star baritone Nathan Gunn, a special performance of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” by American Players Theatre, another popular hip-hop artist in collaboration with Youth Speaks finals, and pianists Olga Kern, Eddie Palmieri and McCoy Tyner, this season offers many options.

Members of the theater’s discount groups receive an additional 10 percent off series subscriptions and $2 off single event tickets. Discount groups include UW–Madison faculty and staff; members of the Wisconsin Alumni Association; Union members; and, new this year, students from schools other than UW–Madison.

UW–Madison student tickets are $10 for live shows, $5 for travel adventure films, and free for Keyboard Conversations.

Gourmet, four-course meals are available before all of the Concert Series shows. Meals are $27 each. Also, regional buffet meals will be available before all travel adventure films. These meals are $14 each.

Dance parties with live music and refreshments will follow select World Stage and other performances.

Also new next season will be season tickets to the newest addition to the Wisconsin Union Theater season: The Isthmus Jazz Series. Pair The Isthmus Jazz Series with the World Stage Series and save even more. Patrons also can choose Create Your Own Series, which allows patrons to choose a special series of eight or more events. Receive $2 off each ticket.

Renewing season subscribers receive up to 20 percent off the single ticket price and have the same seats reserved for the entire season and the opportunity for seat renewal next season. Members of discount groups receive an additional 10 percent off series subscriptions.
