‘Official Muslim Comedy Tour’ seeks to educate, entertain

April 18, 2006

Following the principle that entertainment is one of the most effective educational tools, “Allah Made Me Funny: The Official Muslim Comedy Tour” will butt heads (figuratively speaking, of course) with bias, intolerance and other social ills in a performance at UW–Madison on Friday, April 21.

Tour co-founder Preacher Moss says that the performance may well surprise its audiences.

“The concept of this tour is to make a comprehensive effort to provide effective, significant and appropriate comedy with an Islamic perspective, which is both mainstream and cross-cultural,” he says. “This tour involves stepping out of the shadows of silence and fear, and reaching out to build bridges which we are building through humor and understanding, to make a journey a little easier for us all.”

This event will be the finale of Islam Awareness Week on campus. “Allah Made Me Funny” begins at 8 p.m. in Grainger Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.
