New Health Sciences Learning center to open

May 6, 2004

A ceremonial dedication of the new Health Sciences Learning Center (HSLC) will occur on Friday, May 7, 2004 at 3 p.m.

The dedication will feature comments by Gov. Jim Doyle and UW–Madison Chancellor John Wiley. The ceremony will be held in the atrium, an open area that extends through the center of the HSLC’s four floors. Media will be given limited access to the building, located at 750 Highland Ave. in Madison.

The HSLC is adjacent to the Clinical Sciences Center (CSC) that houses UW Hospital and Clinics.

The learning center will serve as the educational hub for all health sciences students–medical, nursing and pharmacy as well as physical therapy, physician assistant and clinical laboratory science students – on the UW–Madison campus.

Unifying the disciplines even more, the staffs and collections of the three health sciences libraries – Middleton, Powers and Weston – will consolidate in the new Ebling Library, which will extend through three floors on the northern crescent-shaped section of the $55 million building.
