Card sharks to swarm campus

November 30, 1999

Ready, set, shuffle! The first “Bicycle Wild Collegiate Card Tournament” is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 11, from noon to 6 p.m. in the Union South Games Room.

Students can compete in spades, euchre or hearts. The $10 per person entry fee benefits the UW–Madison Men’s and Women’s Bowling Teams, which is sponsoring the card tournament. Participants must be currently registered for at least 12 credits at UW–Madison. Register by e-mailing tournament director Mark Thomas, mathoma4@students.wisc.edu, or register from 11 a.m. to noon on the day of the tournament. Five winners, two in euchre, two in spades and one in hearts, will get an expense-paid trip to national championships at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla. in March 2000.

National champions can win up to $25,000 to be donated to their school’s scholarship fund. Prizes and travel expenses are provided by the Bicycle Wild Playing Card Company, not UW–Madison.
