Avoid traffic, use WIAA shuttle, campus officials urge

March 17, 1999 By

Fans attending the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) high school boys basketball tournament on campus this week (March 18-20) can park at the Dane County Coliseum and ride a Madison Metro shuttle bus to the Field House.

Buses will run every 30 minutes on the hour and half hour, 6:30 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Thursday and Friday; and 9 a.m.-10:15 p.m. Saturday. Passengers can board the bus near the fountain in front of the Coliseum.

Buses will take fans from the Coliseum to the front door of the Kohl Center and back. The cost of parking at the Coliseum will be $3.75 per day, and the round-trip ride to and from the tournament is only $1.

“The shuttle service offers spectators a hassle-free way to get to the games and it will help ease traffic congestion in the campus area during the tournaments,” says Patti Lux-Weber, special events parking coordinator for the University of Wisconsin–Madison Office of Transportation Services.

Lux-Weber advises fans to allow themselves plenty of time to locate parking so they can get to the games on time.
