Kohl Center opens visitor desk

August 3, 1998

A new reception and information desk has opened at the Kohl Center, according to Kohl Center General Manager Ann Larson.

“Our new reception and information desk will provide visitors with improved access and more information about our building,” Larson said. “Many visitors and UW alumni are coming to the Kohl Center from Wisconsin, throughout the United States and foreign countries.

The desk is located at the Gate B of the Kohl Center, near The Badger Store and the UW Ticket Office. It is open Monday though Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Larson said the reception and information desk will enable visitors to get a quick look inside the building. “We’ve found that many people just want to see our inside seating area and Chihuly glass art. Often their visit is only five to 10 minutes.”

The new desk will also assist visitors who may wish to see the Badger men’s or women’s basketball and hockey coaches, who will soon be moving to the Kohl Center’s upper concourse area. UW campus and Madison area community visitor information will also be available at the desk.

“We are coordinating our efforts with the Athletic Department’s new Visitors Center, the campus’ Visitors Center and the Greater Madison Convention & Visitor Bureau,” Larson said.

Larson also announced a new summer tour schedule at the Kohl Center. Thirty minute tours of the building, starting and finishing at Gate B, will be given every Tuesday and Thursday at noon through August 27. Special group tours are also available.
