Dance party to benefit child care center

March 5, 2010

“The Beatles & The Beetles” combines a live concert dance party and some creepy, crawly fun in a benefit for Bernie’s Place Child Care Center, a non-profit early childhood learning center located on the south side of the UW–Madison campus.

This event will bring together many campus groups who value quality child care options on the UW campus: the UW’s Office of Childcare and Family Services, the Department of Entomology, Memorial Union, and undergraduate students.

The Gomers, a local band, will perform live Beatles tunes and the entomology department’s Insect Ambassadors will bring a large insect display for hands-on learning at this family friendly event. Additionally, undergraduate student volunteers will offer face painting for children and the event will feature a raffle.

The event will be held on Sunday March 7 from 2-4 p.m. in Tripp Commons at the Memorial Union, 800 Langdon St. on the UW–Madison campus.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m., tickets are $5 per person or $15 for families of three or more, and all proceeds benefit Bernie’s Place. Only cash or checks will be accepted. For more information, call Suzanne Rubinstein at (608) 698-8691 for more information.

The raffle grand prize is an organic vegetable CSA share from Simply Wisconsin LLC, and other prizes include an art supplies basket, locally roasted coffee, Bernie’s Place gear and more.
