Academic Staff nominating committee encourages involvement

November 4, 2009

Although the academic year is well under way, the Academic Staff nominating committee is already working to identify academic staff members for committee terms beginning July 1, 2010. The Academic Staff nominating committee is responsible for developing the slate of nominees for the Academic Staff Executive Committee (ASEC) and the Academic Staff Assembly standing committees. The nominating committee also recommends academic staff appointments to most of the UW–Madison shared governance committees. Whatever interests an academic staff member may have, there is a committee in which to become involved.

The process used by the Nominating Committee to develop the slate of nominees is easy to navigate. Academic staff members interested in becoming involved in governance should visit http://acstaff.wisc.edu,click on “Get Involved” then “My Committee Interests” to complete the interest form. The committee encourages individuals to indicate all areas of interest and not to limit their selection to a single committee. The committee contacts individuals and gathers additional information on candidate background, other committee involvement and how they might contribute to the work of the committee. Recommendations from the nominating committee are forwarded to the Academic Staff Executive Committee or Academic Staff Assembly for further review and election or approval.
